Our connection with BurgerFuel first began back in 2016, when they approached us about producing the peanut sauce used in two of their cult-favourite burgers, the Peanut Piston and Combustion Tofu. They were looking to work with a local New Zealand company that shared similar values around quality, flavour and innovation.
Although the collaboration didn’t go ahead at the time, demand for the return of the Peanut Piston and Combustion Tofu continued to grow over the years. As BurgerFuel prepared to bring the iconic burgers back to the menu in 2025, they reached back out to us once again.
By then, Forty Thieves had grown from a small nut butter startup into New Zealand’s first peanut butter manufacturer to produce its own Peanut Satay Paste. After more than 50 recipe iterations, the final product went on to win a Gold Medal at the Outstanding Food Producer Awards and secure a place on shelves in supermarkets nationwide.
BurgerFuel loved the flavour profile of our Peanut Satay Paste, making it the perfect fit for the return of these iconic burgers.
