Ten years ago, Forty Thieves was just an idea. Today, we’re New Zealand’s fastest growing peanut butter brand. As we celebrate our 10th birthday, we’re looking back at where it all began and thanking everyone who’s been part of the journey.
It All Started with 4 Products!
In 2016, our entire range consisted of just four products. We roasted nuts in a small commercial kitchen, filled every jar by hand and applied every label ourselves. Every online order was packed at home, and weekends were spent introducing people to Forty Thieves at local markets.
One Jar Became Thousands
Today, we’re producing more than 30,000 jars every week. We’ve grown from a small commercial kitchen into our own purpose-built factory on Auckland’s Hibiscus Coast (which we’re already outgrowing!). Instead of hand-filling and labelling every jar, we now have specialised equipment helping us keep up with demand while maintaining the same care and quality we’ve always strived for.
We’ve also been honoured to receive more than 20 industry awards, including Great Taste Awards in the UK and Outstanding Food Producer Awards.
From 2 Founders to a Team of 12!
One of the biggest changes over the last ten years hasn’t been the number of jars we’ve made. It’s been our team. What started with just the two of us has grown into an incredible team of 12. Every person has played a part in shaping Forty Thieves into what it is today, and we’re proud of the culture we’ve built together.
Our Mission Has Stayed The Same
A lot has changed over the past 10 years, except for our mission: fuelling everyday and epic adventures. Whether it’s breakfast before work, a hike, a favourite recipe or a post-workout snack, we’re proud to be part of so many people’s daily routines.
The Next Adventure
Reaching ten years is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of, but it also marks the beginning of our next chapter.
We’re expanding our factory, growing into new international markets and developing new products. Most importantly, we’re continuing to invest in making the very best nut butters we can. The adventure is only just getting started.
